Adoption FAQ

  • What is Ruff Redemption Rescue, Inc.
Ruff Redemption Rescue, Inc is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit volunteer-based organization licensed by the Georgia Department of Agriculture. The organization is in Woodstock, GA and was created February 2016 by Alicia and Leah, both avid dog lovers who wanted to make positive change for homeless dogs in their community. Ruff Redemption’s mission is to rescue homeless and unwanted dogs from Georgia communities and high kill shelters. Rescued dogs are placed in approved foster homes where they receive training, love, and medical care until they find forever homes. Ruff Redemption believes that community outreach is crucial to improving pet overpopulation in Georgia. As a result, the rescue offers education, resources, referrals and select spay/neuter subsidies to community members in need of assistance.
  • Where are you located?
Ruff Redemption Rescue, Inc. is a foster-based organization located in Woodstock, GA. We do not have a shelter facility or central location for adoptive families to visit available dogs. Ruff Redemption’s foster families are located throughout metro Atlanta with most families residing in Cherokee County. One on one meets are scheduled by the Adoption Team once an application is approved.
  • What are your adoption fees?
Puppies start at $500 Adults start at $400 Seniors start at $250 All adoption fees are subject to change without notice.
  • What is included in the adoption fee?
Ruff Redemption dogs receive, at minimum, the following vetting/medical care: spay/neuter, microchip implantation and owner registration, broad spectrum wormer, heart worm and flea prevention upon intake and monthly while in rescue, two distemper/parvo vaccinations, as well as rabies vaccination for dogs 16 weeks of age or older. A simple heart worm test is completed for dogs at least 7 months of age with no proof of heart worm screening in the past 6 months.

  • Does Ruff Redemption Rescue, Inc. allow out of state adoptions?"

  • How is your rescue organization funded?
Ruff Redemption Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. Funds are received from adoptions fees, donations, community events, and fundraisers. Funds are put directly back into the rescue and used to save more homeless and unwanted dogs in the community.
  • Is a fenced yard required to adopt a dog?
Most Ruff Redemption’s dogs require the adopter to have a fenced backyard. Exceptions, although rare, may be considered on a case by case basis by the Adoption Team.
  • I applied for a dog. When will I receive a call back?
Applications are generally reviewed within 72 hours of submission. Due to the number of applications received, we are NOT able to contact each applicant with a status update. If the Adoption Team believes the applicant is a great match for one or more available dogs, a rescue representative will reach out to the applicant by phone. Please do not send multiple emails requesting an update on an application as this will only delay the review process.
  • How can I meet a dog I am interested in adopting?
Ruff Redemption does not hold adoption events and instead, schedules one on one meet n greets with approved applicants. An application must be submitted and approved by the Adoption Team for the dog of interest before a meet n greet will be scheduled. Ruff Redemption schedules meets 7 days a week and most often occur at the foster family’s house. Many factors such as location, work schedules, after school activities, etc. determine when and where meets take place. We allocate 45 minutes for a meet n greet.

Regardless of the reason and per the adoption agreement, Ruff Redemption Dogs MUST be returned to the rescue if the adopter is no longer able to provide care. Adopters may not give the dog to a friend, neighbor, family member, organization, or surrender to a shelter/rescue without prior approval from Ruff Redemption. Please contact the rescue at info@ruffredemption.org as soon as possible and complete an Owner Surrender Request Form. Ruff Redemption accepts all its dogs back into the rescue. However, timing of placement depends on foster home availability.
